On February 23, 2023, the Robotics School and Francavilla organized a video call for updates and planning.
The Robotics School provided an overview of the activities that are ready and tested for implementation in nursery, primary, and lower secondary school classes, complete with lesson plans. The goal is to try them out in the field in April/May with three comprehensive institutes, two from Liguria, and one from the lower Piedmont region. The project will begin with primary schools and then proceed with testing in lower secondary schools.
How will the activity testing with Nao take place?
The Robotics School proposed dividing each class into 3 groups of about 8 students. While the first group interacts with Nao, the others will remain in the classroom (to avoid confusion and allow everyone to participate with the robot). After half an hour, the activity with the robot will be repeated with the second group, and the first group will return to the classroom, rejoining the third group that remained, and finally, they will have their turn with Nao. The students temporarily not involved with the robot will not be passive in the classroom but will engage in three other disconnected activities, all somehow related to robotics.
Michela Bogliolo and Lorenza Saettone, both doctoral students at the University of Genoa and the Robotics School, are also working on the project. The research for Automatism will be included in their respective study plans, with the possibility of obtaining scientific publications.
Francavilla will work on developing two additional activities, one for primary school and one for lower secondary school. There was also a mention of organizing a meeting with the Romanian partner, with the details to be decided during the upcoming meetings.
